Sales to Relieve Summer Turf Stress

Save now on turf and soil products for heat recovery

Turf managers, growers and plants can all breathe a little easier this summer using Agriox and other unique Geoponics’ products to alleviate anaerobic soil and heat-related stress.

There are several practices used in golf course management and turf care that can help alleviate anaerobic soils. However, most of these are time intensive, labor intensive, expensive, as well as disruptive to play and/or other usual operations.

Agriox is a solution to these challenges. Agiox balances soil ecology, mitigating the effects of anaerobic soil, improving the health of the soil and giving root systems the oxygen and nutrients they need to survive through common summer soil stressors.

Agriox soil oxygen

Other stressors in summer heat include soil moisture—with some areas getting too much rain or water and others not nearly enough. Humawet helps to hold moisture in soil and Penterra helps get the water moving through the soil profile. Other Geoponics’ products, including HydraHawk and Profasorb, are wetting agents and soil surfactants that offer additional soil health benefits.

There could not be a better time than now to improve the health of soil, root systems and plants. Geoponics is offering a sale through the end of August on Agriox for soil oxygen and its line of soil surfactants for water management.

Contact your sales representative directly or Geoponics to order today, 1-877-667-6330. Discounts depend on quantities purchased.

Water 101: Soil Surfactants and Wetting Agents

Water is life, especially for plants.

Too much and they drown, too little and they dry to death.

What to do?

Soil surfactants and wetting agents help maintain optimal moisture levels throughout the layers of the soil.

All wetting agents and soil surfactants are NOT the same. You either need a wetting agent that will help the soil to hold water or you need a wetting agent that will help the soil to move water.

Water management is clearly key to plant survival and health, making it the top priority among golf course superintendents, sod growers; farmers; landscapers; athletic field managers, homeowners and others.

Optimizing water usage and plant health requires a look at the combination of precipitation, irrigation and particularly soil quality and conditions.

Move water with Penterra
Penterra is the fasting acting wetting agent. This penetrant will get water moving.

The key question to consider when choosing water management practices is whether you need to move water through the soil or hold the water.

If you’re experiencing flooding on the surface, you need that water to move!

If you want to move water fast, there is no quicker product than Penterra! It helps to get water moving and penetrating all the levels of the soil. Penterra is the fastest-acting wetting agent on the market.

Love seeing experiments? Watch this oldie but goodie with Penterra:

https://youtu.be/XFM2D6nQMac

You know you may need Penterra when the swales in front of your home or property are frequently filling with water due to flooding or you live in an area expecting heavy rains with a propensity for puddles and floods.

But what if the water is hanging on the surface almost like it was a windshield recently treated with RainX, as described by a recent commenter on TheLawnForum.com interactive blog?

You want to get water moving and penetrating the soil and what you need is a soil surfactant to help reduce that surface tension.

Wetting agents will help, but how do you choose the best one?

When MOVING water is the desired effect, another option in addition to Penterra, is HydraHawk, which also helps water to penetrate the soil, while having additional soil health benefits.

Penterra and HydraHawk are both options for when you need to push water, as these two penetrants will move water through the soil profile.

LDS Localized Dry Spot and wetting agents
LDS, localized dry spot, can be corrected with wetting agents that help retain water throughout the soil profile. Credit: Kansas State University

When you need to HOLD WATER because the soil is dry due to winds, runoff or drought, you may look to Humawet or Profasorb.

You know you need one of these two wetting agents when you’re dealing with hydrophobic soil that repels water, as indicated by hot spots or localized dry spots, among other indications.

These wetting agents will allow the surface and soil profile to hold water, as is often needed in the case of sandier soils.

Curious how this LDS, localized dry spot, can look deeper into the soil profile and how that can help determine what’s needed to remedy the situation? Check out a blog from Kansas State University, here:

Dry soil: When adding more water is a waste

Many times adding water to a dry lawn, dry garden, dry farm, golf course or other dry soil will not help. Soil surfactants that improve soil health are a solution.

Soil surfactants, wetting agents and soil penetrants

Many soils may repel water, not allowing water to get deep into root systems. This of course leads to unhealthy turf and other plants. Soil surfactants can be used to help manage water.

Speed overseed & save water with ProfaSorb

Still overseeding?

Speed Overseed & save water with ProfaSorb soil surfactant

ProfasorbProfaSorb is the answer to faster seed germination, healthier turfgrass growth and reduced water usage. ProfaSorb is an extremely economical soil surfactant. ProfaSorb is an earth-friendly product.

Geoponics offers a product to help overseed germinate and grow faster, while saving on water. Geoponics is known for providing the top Endurant Turf Colorant to professionals as an alternative to overseed, nonetheless ProfaSorb is a tool Geoponics provides for when overseed practices are still in use. ProfaSorb is a soil surfactant that makes overseeding less costly and more effective. Earth friendly ProfaSorb targets the top layer of soil where overseed needs the moisture retention.

Why use ProfaSorb specifically during overseed?

ProfaSorb is a soil surfactant that helps retain moisture up top in the higher portions of the soil profile where the seed needs the extra water to germinate and grow. Usually, a lot of water is used to get the seeds to grow in the overseed process. ProfaSorb’s job is to perform in the top layer of the soil– and it does so with amazing results. As ProfaSorb holds in the moisture, less water is used, presenting economic and environmental savings.

ProfaSorb helps overseed grow faster and healthier.

Is ProfaSorb easy to use?

ProfaSorb is very easy to use. One of the best attributes of ProfaSorb is that it is truly free rinsing. Turf managers don’t have to turn on the irrigation system immediately to rinse ProfaSorb off the leaf blades. Rather, the ProfaSorb remains there and can be watered-in later. The ProfaSorab then completely reactivates when it is most convenient to run the irrigation system. This provides great convenience to golf course superintendents allowing ProfaSorb to be applied any time and irrigated when there are no disruptions to golfers or the game.

Throughout the U.S., particularly in places such as Arizona, California and other western U.S. states, water is very expensive. ProfaSorb is cheaper than water in many areas of the world.

Learn more about ProfaSorb at www.ProfaSorb.com or call 1-877-ECO-GROW and order this professional grade soil surfactant designed for fertigation application.

Surviving a heatwave: Turf care tips

Heatwave: Record breaking heat & humidity puts turfgrass at high risk

As heatwave strikes U.S. states, world's fastest-acting soil surfactants and Agriox keep grass alive with water and oxygen properly managed in the soil. A recent heatwave not only risks the life of many grasses– a heatwave also puts turfgrass managers’ livelihoods at stake. Cool season turfgrass varieties struggle to survive as the heat index climbs into the 100’s earlier than usual this summer in many areas of the U.S. and around the world.

Virginia is one of many U.S. states experiencing a near record breaking heatwave. Golf course superintendents, lawn care professionals and other turfgrass managers have not only the grass at stake, but also their jobs. Dead grass is a sure fire way to get fired if your primary job is to keep grass alive and well. Heatwave or not, expectations are to keep grass alive in all conditions.

Geoponics is providing a lifeline to turf professionals and home lawncare providers during the heatwave with the fastest-acting soil surfactant for water management and Agriox for oxygen. As the heat and humidity cause grass roots to suffocate without added oxygen, Agriox provides a liquid aerification process. Meanwhile, Penterra, the fastest-acting soil penetrant, HydraHawk and Humawet provide water management when various wetting agents and surfactants are needed to survive the heatwave. The best surfactant, penetrant or wetting agent is dependent upon whether the soil needs to hold more water because it’s drying too quickly or whether the water needs to flow and penetrate deeper into the soil.

Here is what you need: Buy these 3 products for the full heatwave survival kit

  • Penterra or HydraHawk to get water moving through the soil profile in overly wet conditions
  • Humawet (www.Humawet.com) to help soil hold onto water in overly dry conditions
  • Agriox (www.Agriox.com) to ensure soil is oxygen rich to keep roots alive during heatwave

Buy Now www.ShopGeoponics.com

Many cool season turfgrass varieties won’t grow at temperatures above 80 degrees Fahrenheit. As summer temperatures are rising early and lasting longer, golf courses, lawns and other grass areas are at risk of death. It does not take long for heat, humidity or extremely dry conditions to combine and kill turfgrass. In fact, the intense heatwave can cause turfgrass to die in a matter of minutes.

Surviving a heat wave is made possible with Agriox for soil oxygen, Penterra for the fastest acting soil penetrant and Geoponics soil surfactants for water management.
The world’s fastest-acting soil penetrant combined with Agriox not only saves turf but keeps it gorgeous as experienced golf course superintendents know the tricks to survive heatwave conditions that if left unchecked can kill grass in minutes. Check out the gorgeous turf conditions at Hermitage Golf Course in VA where the turf survives and thrives a heatwave with Geoponics soil surfactants and soil oxygen. Penterra, HydraHawk, Humawet & Agriox are saving turf, golf courses, home lawns and careers.

Penterra, the fastest-acting soil surfactant on the market, is literally a life saver for these cool season grasses subjected to early and high lasting heat. Turfgrass can die in a single day and water management is key. When water sits on the surface or needs to get deep into roots, Penterra is the soil penetrant of choice and is the very best on the market worldwide because it is the fastest on the market.

Turfgrass professionals have been working seven days a week and long days to keep valuable turf from dying during the heatwave. Golf course superintendents with years of experience know to turn to Geoponics products immediately in these conditions to save their turf and continue their successful careers. Others are quickly catching on to their trade secrets.

Shop now by clicking here to get Penterra or HydraHawk, along with Agriox & Humawet to survive & thrive during a heatwave

Lawn maintenance professionals and golf course superintendents are adding Penterra, HydraHawk and/ or Humawet to their arsenal for water management. Agriox is their go-to for soil oxygen, which is also needed during the heatwave. Buy these heatwave lifesavers now. Home lawn care providers and home owners now have access to these affordable, professional products as well through Geoponics online store. These are earth-friendly and non-toxic methods to save your lawn during the heatwave.

Penterra and HydraHawk get the water moving through to the roots during high humidity and spongy soil conditions. However, as conditions change fast, the most successful golf course superintendents, turfgrass managers and landscapers also keep Humawet at hand for when soils quickly dry out. Humawet is a soil surfactant that helps the soil hold water when it’s needed.

Whether due to high humidity or rain, too much moisture can turn soil and greens to a sponge. That’s when the fastest-acting soil penetrant, Penterra, and/or HydraHawk, come in handy to keep the water moving through the soil and into the root zone. Buy now. Click here.

Water management alone may not save turfgrass susceptible to die-off in extreme heat waves such as experienced in Virginia early this summer. Soil needs oxygen as well. Agriox provides liquid aerification of the soil. One of the most important things to grass survival is to get air into the soil so grasses can breathe and don’t die from the heat. Agriox and Penterra together have been life savers for home lawns and on many of the premier properties across the world experiencing heat waves, including Virginia.

The conditions in southern U.S. states are an anomaly. Nonetheless, it’s the kind of conditions that people lose their jobs over. In minutes or an hour, golf courses can start losing their greens as cool season grasses become high maintenance in the summer months.

Spring time greenup: Easy lawn care tips

Faster spring time greenup for your lawn with Geoponics and turfgrass professionals' tipsAs spring comes breezing in, it’s time to spruce up the lawn. Winter turfgrass recovery can be made easier with these tips. Follow these easy guidelines for a faster spring time greenup.

During late spring, turfgrass, depending on the type, is either on its way to its prime or on its way to decline. Geoponics compiled several tips from professional turfgrass managers. These professionals include golf course superintendents, sod growers and landscapers. Here are some of the top recommendations from the most experienced professionals for obtaining the fastest spring time greenup possible.

Tips for the fastest spring time greenup for cool season or warm season grasses

Lawns pounded by record snowfall and subzero temperatures may need revival or may even be dead upon arrival this spring. Depending upon your conditions, some lawns will green-up while others may need to be replaced.

Grass hit by ice will likely lead to frozen plant cells, crushed turf blades, and, ultimately, to turfgrass death. Winter’s icy conditions can make spring time green up unlikely. If this is the case, it’s time for replacement. Geoponics’ partners, Harmony Growers, offer the best sod. (Here are a couple of links for more about this high quality network of sod growers:  Geoponics and Harmony; top sod producers in the U.S.: Harmony Outdoor Brands.)

Particularly harmful is the freeze-thaw-freeze cycle where changing temperatures can cause turf roots to become brittle and die.

Areas of lawn that are close to roads or pathways may be damaged by salt was used for ice removal. Particular care or even replacement may be needed.

Dead or dormant grass?

Endurant Organic Turf Paint the colorant for homes and used by turf professionals and golf course superintendents for years ensuring a fast spring time greenupFor a fast spring time greenup, it’s crucial to know if your grass is just dead or if it’s dormant. As snow and ice melt away and temperatures rise, turfgrass will awaken from its hibernation dormancy stage and change from brown grass to green grass. If it’s not changing color, your lawn may have died.

Here’s the test: Tug on the brown sections of lawn. If it comes out of the ground effortlessly, the roots have failed. In this case, the grass died. If the roots are holding their ground and hard to tug from the earth, it’s likely alive with hope.

If the grass has died, replace turf after the last chance of frost. Also, replacement should occur when soil temperatures reach approximately 60 degrees (or between 50 and 65 degrees) and when night temperatures are 35 degrees or higher.

Tips to help dormant turf with faster spring time greenup:

  • Soil needs oxygen with physical aeration techniques complemented by increased soil oxygen from Agriox.
  • Decrease salt in the soil with Soil Detox.
  • Reduce soil compaction with Penterra, which is the fastest-acting soil surfactant on the market. HydraHawk can add even more benefits for a quick green up this spring.
  • Encourage growth and vitality with Carbotein, which is organic and veganic.
  • Use Endurant TC when grass is dormant. Transition to Endurant TE organic turf colorant with turf enhancer as the turfgrass exits dormancy and is actively growing. Using Endurant helps maintain consistent color throughout the seasons.
  • Reduce thatch by raking.

Other tips for faster spring time greenup

  • Trim trees to reduce overly shaded areas.
  • Allow grass to grow longer and higher in highly shaded areas, mowing at a higher height underneath trees to allow the blades to grow more surface area for sunlight absorption.
  • Use Endurant turf colorant as the darker turf color increases soil temperature leading to faster greenup both in the short-term with the organic green pigments and in the longterm due to the slight temperature increases.
